Harvey Milk PAC Meeting - Four Freshmen

Tuesday night the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club held their last PAC meeting of 2009 at the LGBT Center on Market Street. The Club invited the four freshmen (David Campos, David Chiu, John Avalos and Eric Mar) of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to speak about their successes, their challenges and what to expect in the coming year.

All four spoke about the difficulties dealing with the budget and the realities of working with a Mayor who is not always conciliatory. (In fact there is discussion going on to put a charter amendment on the ballot requiring the mayor to spend money if eight supervisors vote to spend money).

All agreed that it was important to defend the progressive agenda which includes progressive supervisors in 2010 and a progressive mayor in 2011. Questions from the audience included their impression of the police chief, social justice, budget cuts, homelessness and family housing.
