What: Has Bevan Dufty - Director of Housing Opportunity, Partnerships and Engagement - created a radical new way to deal with the Homeless in SF?
Come hear directly from Bevan Dufty about this ground breaking new program.
On March 30, 2015, the doors opened on Navigation Center, a new attempt to end homelessness for many San Franciscans. Located in a closed down school site at 1950 Mission Street. The pilot program in collaboration with the non-profit San Francisco Interfaith Council, is testing a hunch that many homeless people are more likely to make it off the street if they are allowed to stay with their possessions, partners and pets. Once fully up the Navigation Center will provide city services, counselors, laundry services, television, meals and bungalows and will be able to help 200 people a month (75 at any one time) from homeless to housed in 10 days.
