San Francisco Immigrants Rights Commission Special Hearing

What:  San Francisco Immigrant Rights Commission, the Office of Supervisor Scott Wiener and the Office of Civic Engagement and Immigrant Affairs in partnership with the San Francisco LGBT Community Center and the Haas Jr. Fund are holding a Special Hearing as part of a series on Quality of Life issues for immigrants in San Francisco.
Everyone is welcome.  They invite testimony from immigrants community members about the impacts of housing and affordability as well as economic, educational, healthcare and civic engagement challenges.

Protect Tenants' Rights to Have a Roommate
When:  November 10, 2015 - Tuesday

Where:  San Francisco Rent Board, 25 Van Ness Avenue, Room 610, San Francisco
What:  In September tenants won important new protections.  Now some landlords are trying to roll back those rights.  
Landlords are asking the Rent Board to adopt a rule that will make the new protections apply only to future leases.  This would wipe out protections for all existing tenants.
The Rent Board needs to hear why we need the protections for the right to have a roommate who are not an immediate family member.
