Harvey's House

Unveiling of the Harvey Milk Memorial Sculpture was held last night at City Hall. Harvey Milk loved to walk up and down the beautiful City Hall steps. He would have loved all the music, glamour and speeches from so many people - it has been 30 years!

The Harvey Milk City Hall Memorial Committee did a great job - food, drink - everything perfect including Connie Champagne singing "Over the Rainbow" with Stuart Milk - Harvey's nephew speaking and Anne Kronenberg who lead Harvey's friends down the steps (what a wonderful idea to honor the "friends"! ). It was nice to see everyone - including Harry Britt and Cleve Jones.

Mayor Newsom, Assemblyman to be Tom Ammiano, State Senator Carole Migden, City Treasurer Jose Cisneros, Supervisor Bevan Dufty, Assemblyman Mark Leno, School Board member Mark Sanchez spoke. Jose Cisneros was the one that called City Hall "Harvey's House". Then they played the " eerie "last will tape that Harvey Milk made where he talks about in the future that he might be assassinated and that people should "come out".

After the tape everyone sang "Happy Birthday" and went upstairs to view the statue which is right by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors chambers. This is the area where many, many people get married - how appropriate!
