The Progressive Victory Party

Attended the Victory Party co-hosted by San Francisco Labor Council and the San Francisco Democratic Party last night held at the Independent on Divisadero Street.

I showed up late - (hard to find parking) but when I arrived Assemblyman Mark Leno was speaking and I heard San Francisco Democratic Party Chair and President of the Board, Aaron Peskin speak and thank everyone for their hard work. Specifically he wanted to thank Jane Morrison for her fundraising abilities to raise over $20,000 last year (with Agar Jaick's help). One of Aaron Peskin's goals in 2010 is to obtain "gender balance". San Francisco County Central Committee's Slate card was 82% successful.

Supervisor Chris Daly spoke as did Tim Paulson, Executive Director of the San Francisco Labor Council.
Lots of people - journalists, campaign managers, successful candidates - I saw John Avalos, Ross Mirkarimi, Steve Ngo with many "rumored to be candidates" in attendance - including Rafael Mandelman who confirmed to me that he is running for Supervisor in District 8 in 2010.

This Saturday and Sunday there will be phone banking for the Georgia Senate race at SEIU Local 1021, 350 Rhode Island, San Francisco from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information: 415-848-3611

There will be a fundraiser this Sunday at the Slow Club, 2501 Mariposa for Jim Martin candidate for U.S. Senator in Georgia. 7 p.m.
