Thursday night while most people were watching the Giants game , some of us attended the last District 8 debate/forum before the election on November 2, 2010. The Forum was held at the San Francisco LGBT Community Center on Market Street. Forum was sponsored by the San Francisco LGBT Community Center, The Bay Citizen, Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom and the Golden Gate Business Association. The meeting was moderated by KQED Scott Shafer, who is the host and correspondent of the statewide California Report.
Scott Wiener, Rebecca Prozan, Rafael Mandelman and Bill Hemenger have been campaigning for over a year. District 8 should feel lucky to have such dedicated individuals, who are so knowledgeable about their district running for supervisor.
There were no surprises (except Bill Hemenger could not make the event) - just good, smart answers.

Rent Control Rally!!!! Save Rent Control!!!

What: Southern California landlord Thomas Coates - the main financial supporter of the 2008 statewide rent control real measure (Prop. 98) - has just donated a quarter of a million dollars to Supervisor candidates (Wiener in District 8, Sparks in District 6, and Moss in District 10) who are already heavily backed by local landlords. The infusion of cash from Coates, who has a long history of fighting rent control, means that landlords are seriously targeting rent control in San Francisco.
