BACORR / - "Walk for Life"

Went down to Justin Herman Plaza on Saturday to check out the "Walk for Life" March and the Bay Area Coalition for Our Reproductive Rights (BACORR) counter demonstration . I wanted to see if there was a difference from last year since President Barack Obama reversed a ban implemented by President George W. Bush, on funding for the international groups that perform abortions or provide information about the procedures to women abroad.

First of all, it was very, very cold and the ground was muddy. It seemed to me the crowd size was the same as last year, however, last year there were ugly signs and the crowd was "churning" (last year it was a nice day). This year the crowd was very quiet and still and the signs were very limited. Speaker said "We won't give up" - and then they marched to the Marina Green. BACORR demonstration was small - young people. I didn't see any elected officials.

I believe most San Franciscans have decided to let them march - everyone just move on. After all that is the San Francisco way - everyone has the right to have their say.
