Budget problems - "wickedly complex"

Attended San Francisco for Democracy meeting Wednesday night at the famous Schroeder's German Restaurant to hear about budget problems and government money hunts.

Supevisor John Avalos (Budget Committee Chair) and Mike Farrah (Director - Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Services) took turns explaining why we were in the trouble we are about the budget and options about how to balance the budget. Everything is still up in the air - at least everyone is talking to each other.

Rick Wathen from California Teachers Association and Alysabeth Alexander (SEIU) discussed the May 19th state wide election - the items on the ballot. As Rick Wathen said, this is all "wickedly complex".

Not only complex but depressing.

Propositions:

Proposition 1A. State budget. Changes California Budget Process. Limits State Spending. Increases "rainy day" budget stabilization Fund - State of California
Propostion 1B. Education Funding. Payment Plan - State of California
Proposition 1C. Lottery modernization Act - State of California
Proposition 1D - Protects Children's Services Funding. Helps Balance State Budget - State of California
Proposition 1E- Mental Health Services Funding. Temporary Reallocation. Helps balance state budget.
Propositon 1F. Elected officials' salaries. Prevents pay increases during budget deficit years - State of Calfiornia
