Senate Debate - Senator Barbara Boxer Debate Watch Party

I attended a fundraiser for Senator Barbara Boxer, Monday night, co-hosted by Aaron Peskin, Emily Salgado and Dick Grosboll.

Barbara's loyal  supporters, going back to her Board of Supervisor days in Marin, came together to hear Barbara:

"I am in this race for a reason, to make life better for the people I represent".

"These are hard times, if ever I needed to get back there, it is now. If ever it is needed  to win - it is now."

D10 Candidates Meet & Greet - Velma's!

On August 24, Tuesday  (that very, very hot day) I attended D10 Candidates Meet and Greet at Velma's on Jerrold Avenue.

The Meet and Greet was sponsored by Concerned Citizens of the Southeast Sector - a group of people who have joined together to host an event that would introduce candidates running in District 10 to the stakeholders of the Southeast Community.

Tables  were setup for each candidate so you could go up to the Candidate and ask them your questions directly.  After a delectable meal set up from restaurants from around District 10, each candidate spoke in front of the group for three minutes.

Food, balloons, drinks, campaign signs , music   - this "Meet  and  Greet" turned into a "Neighborhood Party"!

Fifteen people spoke - all very interesting and informative.   I have posted the 15 candidates under my YouTube account youtube.com/user/sfpostnotes .  I started with Kristine Enea's video because she was the first to speak after introductions by Leah Pimentel.

Videos are as follows:
  • Kristine Enea
  • DeWitt Lacy
  • Marlene Tran
  • Stephen Weber
  • Tony Kelly
  • Chris Jackson
  • Rodney Haupton Jr.
  • Geoffrea Morris
  • MJ Marie Franklin
  • Steve Moss
  • Lynette Sweet
  • Isaac Bowers
  • Eric Smith
  • Ed Donaldson
  • Espanola Jackson (write in candidate)
  • Velma Landers introduced Old Skools Cafe
Velma Landers said "This is a very important event, we must know who we are voting for".  Velma asked that everyone invite others (including candidates from other districts) to visit District 10 -" eat at our restaurants, visit our businesses".

As MJ Marie Franklin said, this event should be an annual event!   Now the hard part - voters have to decide who to vote for - up to three choices.
