District 10 Candidate Forum - Southeast Community Facility

On a cold, freezing night everyone showed up at the Southeast Community facility on Oakdale to watch the District 10 Candidate Forum being put on by the San Francisco Young Democrats  and co-sponsored  with the Alice B. Toklas Democratic Club and the Harvey Matthews Bayview Hunters Point Democratic Club.

Melissa Griffin was the moderator with a streamed live by VidSF with commentary by Beth Spotswood and Pollo Del Mar.

Meeting started by Supervisor Sophie Maxwell  providing  gracious opening remarks.  She said people should ask "what is important to you" when deciding who to vote for in District 10.

A huge crowd listened, enjoyed, sometimes booed a format which included candidates asking each other questions and questions that came from the audience.  Issues included Lennar, flight of the black community, education, disparity in healthcare, pollution, law enforcement and crime.

There was a  interruption when Nyese Joshua,  candidate for supervisor in District 10,  stopped  the meeting to express her displeasure in not being invited to participate in the forum .

There are 23 people running for District 10 Supervisor.  People on the panel were  Kristine Enea, Chris Jackson, Eric Smith, Isaac Bowers, Lynette Sweet, DeWitt Lacy, Malia Cohen, Tony Kelly and  Steven Moss. (James Calloway could not attend).

The District 10 Candidate Forum  debate will be posted to the internet shortly: facebook.com/sfyoungdemocrats
