District 6 Supervisor Candidate Forum

On Monday I attended the District 6 Supervisor Candidate forum sponsored by South of Market Business Association (SOMBA) in association with:
  • Market Street Association
  • Mission Merchants Association
  • Mid Market Community Benefits District
  • North of Market/Tenderloin Community Benefits District
  • South Beach/Mission Bay Business Association
  • Tenderloin Merchants Association
  • Union Square Business Improvement District
  • Union Square Merchants Association
  • Yerba Buena Community Benefit District
The forum was held at Kick Labs on Brannan Street.  There was a reception and then a candidates forum with:
  • Jane Kim
  • Jim Meko
  • Theresa Sparks
  • Debra Walker
  • Elaine Zamora
Melissa Griffin was the moderator.

A very informative, interesting evening starting out with introductions, candidates asking other candidates, and then  questions from the audience.  Issues included parking meters, sit-lie, district elections, small business, parking, tax incentives, schools and  pension reform.

Some people in the political community are questioning why the forum was limited to five candidates - (15 people have declared) - especially James Keys - who has recently been endorsed by Supervisor Chris Daly.

Other candidates: Matthew D. Ashe, H. Brown, Dean Clark, George Davis, Matthew Drake, Glendon"Anna Conda" Hyde, Nate Paye, Robert Raeburn, George Vazhappally
