Kick-Off - Eric Mar

Kick-off for Eric Mar for Supervisor in District One at Argonne Elementary School on Saturday.
Large crowd, food and speeches from Eric's supporters including Supervisor Jake McGoldrick, San Francisco Labor Council Vice President Conny Ford;Teacher and United Educators of San Francisco Leader Susan Solomon; Jesse Fink, President of the Clement Street Merchants Association and owner of Toy Boat Dessert Cafe (Eric helped keep Starbucks away from Clement Street) and Jane Morrison. It was nice to see Leroy King out and about.

Eric Mar introduced his family (a large family that traveled from all over to be at his kick-off).
Eric talked about the day after his daughter was born eight years ago his house burnt down. How he and his family were helped by all his friends in the community. Being the Supervisor from District One is a way he could give back some thanks for all the help he was given in getting back on his feet.

Endorsers include Henry Der, L. Ling-chi Wang, Eric Quezada, Robert Haaland, Ted Gullickson, John Avalos, Richard Grossboll, Matt Gonzalez, Kim-Shree Maufus, Jane Kim, John Rizzo, Sandra Lee Fewer, Michael Bornstein and Richard Hansen, Assemblywoman Fiona Ma, State Senator Carol Migden, Tom Ammiano, Aaron Peskin, Chris Daly, Ross Mirkarimi and Gerardo Sandoval, Jeff Adachi, Art Agnos, Mark Sanchez and Lawrence Wong.

As to be expected, there was a demonstration outside the school from people who are supporting the ROTC. Eric has been on the School Board for two terms.

Eric Mar for Supervisor. 790 7th Avenue #101, San Francisco.

Meet and Greet - District Three

Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center held "Meet & Greet" in their Gym Friday afternoon to meet the candidates for Supervisor in District Three.

Big turnout of neighbors - it was obvious that the neighbors were there to listen to all the candidates and figure out who they were going to vote for (eleven candidates!).

The candidates are articulate, interested in their community and need people's vote. Crime was the number one issue along with small business help on Columbus Avenue, quality of life issues and affordable housing.

The candidates that spoke were Joseph Alioto Jr., Harold Brown, Sal Busalacchi, Claudine Cheng, David Chiu, Bobby Coleman, Mike DeNunzio, Tony Gantner, Lynn Jefferson, Denise McCarthy and Wilma Pang.

One of the candidates, Denise McCarthy, was Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center's Executive Director for 25 years.

Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center, 660 Lombard Street, San Francisco, Ca. 94133
www.tel-hi.org 415-421-6443
2007-2008 Board of Directors:
Millicent D. Bogert, President; Gail Switzer, Vice President; Victoria L. Carlin, Treasurer; Pamela Duffy, Secretary. Jack Bair, Asim Bhansali, Bruce Carlton, Ted Dienstfrey, Dale Fehringer, Nestor L. Fernandez II, Dan Giraudo, Denis Henmi, Anthony C. Lincoln, Katherine Munter, Rona Michele Spiegel and Brian Wilsey.

Note: Walking back from the event next door to the closed down Washington Bar and Grill I saw the closed up Pagoda Theatre. I noticed twenty-four (24!) Lynn Jefferson for Supervisor campaign signs glued to the side of the building. I am sure that Lynn Jefferson does not know about these signs being up all at one spot - just take them down. It looks tacky and should not be a part of this corner or North Beach . There is already a sign up on the building that says " enough with the plywood".
