It's over!

SPUR Election Wrap-Up meeting was jammed packed with political insiders listening to Jim Stearns and David Latterman talk about yesterday's election. Even though the data was sketchy David Latterman had a power point presentation. The discussion was interesting, informative and very funny. "Can anyone give a definition of "moral turpitude"? - well anyway it passed!
The turn out was very low with the Midgen/Leno/Nation battle bringing out the more liberal vote which influenced the vote.
Sandoval - had his chance to win but Mary Mallen took votes away.
Migden/Leno/Nation. Nation got in too late, Leno announced 18 months before the election so he had time to campaign.
Newsom has 85% approval rating!
Prop A - liberal vote helped. When you have a revenue ballot argument (best to organize everyone before hand) so there is know one against ( i.e. the Park Bond).
Prop G - Coalition building - labor involved. Lots and lots of mail. No mail from Prop F - did anyone know Sierra Club was against Prop G?
Looking forward to November - battle for supervisors, hospital bond. Turnout will be HUGE.

Assemblymember Fiona Ma had election return party at Soluna Restaurant near City Hall.
What a great place to watch returns! Big screen, comfortable seating, food and drinks -very civil. Thanks Fiona! Thank heaven the election is over!!!!!

Beloved Robert McCarthy and Angela Quaranta had Election Lunch at the California Culinary Academy on Potrero Hill Tuesday . They honored the Attorney General Jerry Brown. Good food, lots of people. Best to celebrate while you are waiting for the vote to come in......
