District Eleven Democratic Club Dinner was held Friday night. As always it was held at the Spanish Cultural Center. (Great paella!).
What a nice way to kick off the new political season (November 2008)!
A real neighborhood event with music by Patti, John and Nick. Guest speaker was Assessor Phil Ting. The best part of the night was the auction. Lots of fun and laughter fighting over items - especially Dianne Feinstein's painting and having lunch with District Attorney Kamala Harris (future Attorney General?). Claire Zvanski, the President of District Eleven did a fantastic job chairing the event.
Items in live auction included two very special neckties from Mark Leno (big battle over this), San Francisco Symphony tickets donated by Tony Sacco, breakfast with Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Dan Weaver wine and a battle over a diamond and sapphire ring donated by Judy Yueng.
Silent auction items included items from Emily Drennen, Carolen Marks, State Senator Leland Yee and Julio Ramos.
Almost all the candidates running for Supervisor in District Eleven were there: John Avalos, Julio Ramos, Emily Drennen , Eli Horn and Ahsha Safai. Things are getting serious, the candidates were all going around table to table talking to people. Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval was there along with State Senator Leland Yee . Great table decorations and bubbles!
