First District Nine Debate!

Harvey Milk Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Democratic Club held the first debate by District Nine candidates for Supervisor last night in the Women's Building.
The room was full- David Campos, Tommy Gallegos, Eric Quezada, Mark Sanchez, Eric Story and Eva Royale spoke.
Questions asked included: Do you support decriminalizing prostitution?, maintain SFPD and ICE relationship? Discuss housing in the Mission for low income/development. Discuss bicycle-green issues and how you would handle the issues? What have you done and what will you do to save St Luke's hospital as an acute care, mulitspecialty 200 bed hospital? Undocumented juvenile protection in San Francisco - what would you do? How would you impact homicides in Mission - role of police and mayor. Elimination of Jr. ROTC from public schools - yes or no. Cannabis - are you supportive? Name 3 things Mayor Newsom has done for District Nine. Will you support Cindy Sheehan or Nancy Pelosi? Will you join us to oppose the HRC position on ENDA?

The Harvey Milk Club wanted specific answers and mostly they got them from articulate, well informed savvy neighborhood leaders. (the room was full of their supporters - there was alot of agreement on answers). It is a very tough decision who to vote for - most of these candidates have a strong contingent of loyal volunteers - this is going to a "bumpy ride" - but interesting.
