Barbara Boxer/Dems/Dist 4/7 Debate

Another great party at Agar Jaick's home on Woodland Avenue hosted by Agar and Jane Morrison. The fundraiser was for the San Francisco Democratic Party with special guest Senator Barbara Boxer.

These parties are so popular and the food is so good, I arrived exactly on time and the smart people were already there enjoying the food!

Lt. Governor John Garamendi spoke after Agar Jaicks gave him a very nice introduction. Garamendi said he has been involved in politics since 1974 and he finally was able to come to Agar's house for one of his famous parties. He talked about running for Governor - that's a long way off! - He talked about single payer health care, the budget - he has quite a resume.

Barbara Boxer, as always, was enthusiastic and she is so wise! She said this "was our moment" that Barack Obama has a sense of history, he has a plan. - In California we all have to help because Obama is focusing on swing states including Nevada and New Mexico. She said the Republicans are trying to make the public cynical about politics - she said "get over the fear of loosing" - be proud of Hillary - don't look back - keep working towards the goal this November.

The new Chair of the Party, Aaron Peskin asked people to show up on August 17th (this coming Sunday) in front of the Fairmont to show their support for Barack Obama - 4 to 6 p.m.

Lots of candidates were introduced (the place was jammed packed) - Sue Lee, Eric Mar, Alicia Wang, Denise McCarthy, Wilma Pang, Eva Royale, Owen O'Donnell, Eric Storey, Emily Murase, Rachel Norton, Jill Wynns, Mary Hernandez and Steve Ngo.

Then went to the Supervisor Forum for District Four and District Seven held by the West of Twin Peaks Council at the John's Armenian church out on Olympia Blvd. in the Sunset.

Denise LaPointe did a excellent job of moderating the candidates from District Four: Supervisor Carmen Chu, Ron Dudum and David Ferguson and District Seven: Supervisor Sean Elsbernd and Julian Lagos.

Questions posed with responses were about keeping families in San Francisco, infrastructure, school assignments, improving Muni, sanctuary laws and cleaning up the streets. Much time was spent on the San Francisco budget and how to resolve budget cuts.

District Four:

Supervisor Carmen Chu - Well prepared and strong "We do not have a revenue problem - we need to make better decisions"
Ron Dudum said he is not afraid to ask tough questions - "I know who I represent - I mean business".
David Ferguson - - he talked about the Sunset being a home for middle class people, he wants to help improve crime and he says " he knows how to organize".

District Seven:

Supervisor Sean Elsbernd - talked about his accomplishments - Proposition B, budget concerns and updating City Streets. Supervisor Elsbernd has strong city wide connections.
Julian Lagos - talked about affordable housing, development issues.

Large crowd of people - Chu, Dudum and Elsbernd have snazzy signs, buttons, campaign staff - the Sunset is a thriving political area of the City.
