Supporting Speaker Nancy Pelosi

I went to the Cowell Theater at Fort Mason last night in support of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
It was cold and foggy (freezing!) Of course, Agar Jaicks, Jane Morrison, Gimmy Park Li, Former Mayor Willie Brown were there. Leslie Katz, Catherine Dodd, Michael Yaki, Jim Wachob with his sign, Dan Bernal and Matt Gonzales (he left early) were there .

It is a big auditorium. The huge majority were there to hear Nancy Pelosi talk about her book "Know Your Power: A Message to America's Daughters".

It was nice to hear her talk about Congressman Phil Burton, State Senator John Burton, Congresswoman Sala Burton - her years growing up with five brothers - she talked about bringing up her kids and how Congresswoman Sala Burton asked her to run in her place.

But then the question of George Bush came up - "two oilmen in the White House" and the hecklers began - not that many - but spread out throughout the audience - not all speaking at once.

It began to get a little bit out of hand (I was worried about her safety) - but things calmed down - I don't know how she does it - she was so calm - she did not give up - she just kept going until the subject got back to getting Barack Obama elected - that is the bottom line - Barack Obama and more Democratic Congressmembers and Senators elected to office. I can't wait.
