Yes - it is already that time to talk about and vote - didn't we just do this??
Potrero Hill Democratic Club had their Endorsement Meeting regarding State Propositions last night at Potrero Hill Neighborhood House.
As always, the meeting was well organized, chaired by Club President Joni Eisen along with Political Action Chair Rachel Schapira.
There was a very serious, interested group of neighbors listening to the following speakers:
Ron Eckstein from GQRR spoked on Yes on Prop 10 - Alternative Fuel Vehicles and Renewal Energy with Richard Holober from Consumer Federation of Ca. speaking against.
The Honorable Quentin Kopp (past Supervisor in San Francisco and Judge) spoke for High Speed Rail Authority (Prop 1) with Michael Mahoney speaking against.
Jim Gonzales the bill proponent for Renewal Energy Generation (past Supervisor in San Francisco) spoke for Prop. 7 with Dan Kalb from Union of Concerned Scientists speaking against.
Dan Mitchell from Yes on 11 - Redistricting campaign spoke.
Other propositions were discussed by members of the Club.
It was interesting seeing Quentin Kopp who was Supervisor a very long time ago - he is still the same, charming, articulate and so smart - it was nice to see him - he really cares about High Speed Rail (as does Assemblywoman Fiona Ma and Jane Morrison).
Jim Gonzales was appointed Supervisor (part of his District was Potrero Hill) and he took over what was considered Quentin Kopp's Supervisor seat. It was a nice moment to see the two Supervisors meet again last night.
What is different about this endorsement process is that members have until August 12th to hand in their ballots by 6 p.m. at 1459 18th Street, Box 152 where then ballots will be counted publicly at Farley's. Members can request an emailed ballot.
