Rally for "Renter's Relief" Legislation

Attended "Renter's Relief" rally Monday at City Hall before the Land Use and Economic Development Committee started at 1 p.m.

Tommi Avicolli-Mecca and Ted Gullicksen from San Francisco Tenants Union spoke along with activists from many organizations including CTA, SoMa Community Action Network, St. Peter Housing Committee and Housing Rights Committee.  Rally was to support Supervisor Chris Daly's "Renter's Economic Relief Package":
  • Suspend any rent increases which will cause a tenant's rent to exceed 33% of their income.
  • Expand the rights of tenants to add roommates to help pay the rent.
  • Limit the amount of "banked" rent increased which can be imposed in any one year.
