What a beautiful weekend! Attended Supervisor Tom Ammiano's "Thank You Party" for all his supporters on his election to the Assembly. The party was held Friday night at the LGBT Community Center. Friday was a warm night and we were on the top floor looking out at San Francisco with the full moon. There was no sign in sheet - this was a party! Sushi, mushroom crepes, hand made tamales, steak on a stick and fried chicken. Great stuff!
Assemblyman Mark Leno - soon to be State Senator spoke - what a great team - we are lucky in San Francisco to have such hard working, articulate legislators.
After 14 years, Tom's last day on the Board of Supervisors is Tuesday, November 25th.
Saturday I attended the No on 8 rally at City Hall - I wanted to be counted as part of the crowd. I walked down Market Street from Church, as did everyone else, there was a mini-parade on both sides of Market Street to the parade which started at 10:30 a.m. Such a beautiful day, lots of people - mostly young with lots of babies. The first voice I heard was Tom Ammiano yelling out: "Everyone is Queer today!". That jazzed up the crowd. Mark Leno spoke "Yes we Will!".
I also heard State Senator Carole Migden speak. Let's hope the Courts come through on reinstating marriage. It just doesn't feel right.
