Excelsior Follow-Up Planning Meeting -

Thursday night at the beautiful Balboa High School a meeting with Excelsior residents met as a follow-up planning meeting to the September 20th Police/Community meeting. The meeting was well attended - Angie Minkin chaired the meeting and after everyone introduced themselves the meeting was broken up into groups and people brainstormed about ideas about how the community could help in reducing crime and violence.

Some of the ideas expressed were youth outreach, compiling a list of resources (organizations - what they do), meeting your neighbors, having block parties, working together with other organizations and City Hall and talking to the new supervisors who will be elected this November for a coordinated effort. There was a lot of resources in the room - a group any one of you would like to work with.

State Senator Leland Yee spoke and gave his support and offered any help he could on a state level and Supervisor Candidates John Avalos, Ahsha Safai and Randy Knox attended the meeting.
